Noah and the Great Flood
Noah and the Great Flood
Genesis 6 · Genesis 7 · Genesis 8 · Genesis 9
“Noah did everything just as God commanded him.”
— Genesis 6:22 (NIV)
A long, long time ago there lived a good man named Noah. Noah loved God and listened to Him, even when other people did not.
One day God told Noah something very big: “Build a giant boat called an ark.” So Noah picked up his tools and got to work, hammering and sawing, day after day, just as God had said.
Then God brought the animals — two by two! Lions and lambs, elephants and bunnies, buzzing bees and tall giraffes all walked up the ramp and into the cozy ark. Noah and his family went inside too.
God shut the door to keep everyone safe and dry. Outside it rained and rained, but inside the ark Noah fed the animals and waited patiently for God.
After a long while the rain stopped. Noah sent out a little dove, and it came back with a fresh green leaf. Land! Soon the ark rested on a mountain, and everyone stepped out into the bright, clean world.
Then God did something beautiful. He painted a rainbow across the sky and made a promise: “This rainbow is My promise to you.” Every time we see a rainbow, we can remember that God keeps His promises.
The Big Idea
Noah obeyed God and waited patiently, and God took good care of him. We can obey God and trust His promises too.
Reflect & Discuss
- 1.What big thing did God ask Noah to build?
- 2.Why do you think Noah did everything God asked, even when it was hard?
- 3.What do you remember every time you see a rainbow?
A Prayer
Dear God, thank You for taking care of Noah and all the animals on the ark. Help me to obey You and to trust Your promises, just like the rainbow in the sky. Amen.
